Poppy-seed walnut strudel

Ha ha ha, should have tried to tuck end of roll in…

Not that I really care, it tastes wonderful – with cinnamon, cardamom, cloves, lemon zest alongside walnuts and poppy seeds in the filling. The dough is also a proper old fashioned strudel – not that I am an expert but remember these wonderful things my gran and various aunts used to make. Recipe from Dan Lepard’s Short and sweet.

Made it yesterday afternoon singing ‘mamica su strukle pekle, meni nisu nikaj rekle’, might have to google recipes for ‘from back home’ type of strudel to see how they compare.
